Today (on May 10, 2011), 3 Crowd Technologies, the San Mateo, CA based software enterprise that creates solutions to change the future of content delivery, announced
the launch of its CrowdCache offering. This solution is an intelligent content delivery application that provides a flexible cloud caching system to the Companies and allows them to make their own Content Delivery Networks.
Conventionally, the Content Delivery Network services providers require the customers to make use of their own data centers and hardware, thus reducing the flexibility of the type of hardware to be used and the location of the Points-of-Presence (PoP). What CloudCache does is that is allows the Companies to use their own servers as CDN by running the Java-based CloudCache client on top of them. The CloudCache system is controlled by 3Crowd’s CrowdDirector, which works as a global load balancer of the flexible infrastructure.
With the huge amounts of possibilities unveiling once this product proves its stability, the CrowdCache system is aimed at providing maximum CDN control to the end customers.
