This Wednesday (on June 27, 2012), Akamai Technologies, the leading provider of secure and high-performing cloud platform and streaming media services and Qualcomm, the world leader in 3G and next-generation mobile technologies, announced that they had entered into an alliance to implement newer and better performing mobile device protocols.
At its end, Qualcomm has been optimizing browser performance using its Snapdragon processors for more than 3 years, whereas Akamai has produced various software-side optimizations by its Aqua Mobile Accelerator. Now with this new collaboration, both the Companies will work on a tighter integration of the mobile device’s hardware and software as well as enhancing the existing mobile delivery protocols for better performance. These enhancements are expected to improve the bandwidth efficiency of the mobile devices, thus improving page load times and ensuring a better browsing experience for the mobile website viewers.
Both Qualcomm and Akamai mentioned that they were excited about the collaboration and they would start providing their joint offerings for Android phones starting Q4, 2012.
