Amazon Web Services Selects Level 3 for AWS Direct Connect
This Monday (on August 15, 2011), Level 3 Communications, the leading provider of fiber-based solutions and CDN services, announced that it had been selected as the solution provider for the Amazon Web Services’ new AWS Direct Connect solution. This new solution is aimed at providing users with dedicated network connectivity and services for supporting AWS platform and services.
What the AWS Direct Connect does is that it connects the Data Center of the customer with the AWS region closest to them and improves bandwidth throughput and connection reliability, while reducing the overall operational costs. As part of the deal, Level 3 will be providing its network support and cloud-based solutions to provide a high-speed end-to-end cloud platform that optimizes business productivity by delivering AWS services faster and better.
Level 3 mentioned that it was extremely happy to be selected as a service provider and that it would be providing the end-users an access to 1G and 10G circuits to the AWS cloud at all Direct Connect sites.
