
This Monday (on December 19, 2011),
Level 3 Communications, one of the leading providers of network services and various data and voice solutions,
announced that it will work with the Central Valley Independent Network (CVIN LLC) and Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California (CENIC) for a Broadband infrastructure project in the Silicon Valley.
This project is partially funded by the Federal Agencies under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), and the Federal investment will be almost 46.6 million USD of the total 66.6 million USD cost. The project aims at providing fast internet connection and broadband reach to more than 4 million people across 2000 communities, and it will leverage the existing network backbone of both Level 3 and CENIC for providing the last mile service.
Level 3 mentioned that it was proud to be associated with Federal projects for delivering high capacity network services, and it would continue to strive for making better relationships with institutes like CENIC and CVIN to provide faster network access to underserved areas.
