Today (on May 7, 2012), Level 3 Communications, the leading provider of fiber-based communication services and other network-based solutions, announced that the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has selected it and entered into a 10-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quality task order for their fiber-cable operations and IP-based infrastructure.
As part of the deal, DISA will leverage Level 3’s dedicated network and infrastructure to meet the growing demands and enhanced security needs that are required by the Department of Defense. Level 3 will not only help DoD with its network, but also provide the Federal organization with a dedicated team of professionals to help support the critical performance and reliability related requirements of DISA’s requirements and deliver them as soon as possible, while maintaining very stringent levels of security.
Level 3 mentioned that it was extremely happy and honored to be selected by the US Department of Defense and the maximum value of this 10-year contract is valued around 411 million USD.

This Friday (on May 4, 2012), Pavlov Media, one of the leading private providers of broadband services in the United States, announced that it had partnered with Campus Crest Communities, one of the leading real estate firms for purpose-built student housing, to collaborate for the launch of its Content Delivery Network offering named Tesseractiv.
As part of the deal, Pavlov Media will leverage its Tesseractiv CDN service and deliver the most popular content on the Internet to Campus Crest’s student housing community in Waco, Texas to start off with. The service is aimed at providing speeds up to as much as 100 Mbps, thus providing the college students with extremely fast and reliable Internet connectivity. Campus Crest mentioned that it is now aiming at deploying the Tesseractiv in all its strategic markets around the United States.
At its end, Pavlov Media mentioned that the Company had spent many years of research to create a solution that would optimize bandwidth and performance for its users, and the Company was happy with the roll out of Tesseractiv in Texas.

This Wednesday (on May 2, 2012), Limelight Networks, the leading provider of content delivery network solutions and other web optimization services, announced that PSA Peugeot-Citroen, the leading French automobile-maker had selected its Limelight Accelerate offering to improve the performance of its websites.
PSA Peugeot-Citroen mentioned that they needed a solution that would improve the performance of their configuration pages to allow customers get better quality-of-service and thus reduced abandonment rates and that is where the Limelight Accelerate had helped the Company. PSA mentioned that it had already deployed Limelight Accelerate on its websites www.peugeot.com and www.citroen.com, and the Company had seen significant improvements in the loading times of its websites as well as its configuration pages, which allows customers to mix and match colors and create customized models with their selected color schemes.
At its end, Limelight Networks mentioned that leveraging its global network had allowed PSA in bringing down their page-loading times to as low as a few milliseconds, and this would allow the latter in getting more active participation from its viewers and thus translate to more conversions.

This Wednesday (on May 2, 2012), ChinaCache, the China-based leading provider of Content Delivery Network and Internet content solutions, announced that it had collaborated with Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (“BUPT”), one of the leading Universities in telecommunications domain for establishing the Content Aware & Intelligent Services Lab (CIAS).
Basically, the CIAS will be used for doing research about the next generation networking methodologies and will be based on the IPv6, and this is where ChinaCache’s CDN experience and technologies and BUPT’s research capabilities will join hands for further improvisations. Among the research projects, the first in line is going to be a client-based Internet awareness and network acceleration solution, and there are various other projects aimed at using content-aware networks and improving the performance and thus the end-user experience.
At its end, ChinaCache mentioned that it was excited with the prospect of working with BUPT at the CAIS, and since China is already growing and has a broadband initiative in place now, the research will help ChinaCache in its goal of improving the performance of networks further.

Yesterday (on May 2, 2012), EdgeCast Networks, the world’s fastest and most reliable Content Delivery Network services provider, announced that its OpenCDN Federation platform, which is the Company’s suite of managed CDN offering is now out-of-Beta and is servicing production traffic between independent CDN operators around the globe.
The OpenCDN Federation from EdgeCast Networks, allows the network operators to provide PoP services and caching services, without having the need to install infrastructure in all the places by leveraging and trading bandwidth and storage with other providers. EdgeCast Networks has also patented a significant part of the CDN interconnection intellectual property and had announced the Licensed CDN program early this year. Moreover, OpenCDN is aimed at allowing the network operators to create and sell their CDN offerings without the need to create software, by leveraging the proven and stable technology from EdgeCast Networks.
At its end, EdgeCast Networks mentioned that it was happy with OpenCDN and CDN Federation, and as of now the providers include a large, tier-1 provider in North America and Pacnet in Asia among other participants.

Last Thursday (on April 26, 2012), Internap Network Services Corporation, the leading provider of intelligent IT infrastructure solutions and Content Delivery Network services, announced that Extreme Reach Inc., which is one of the leading providers of video advertising management platforms is leveraging its services for better performance and unmatched scalability.
The Video Advertising platform of Extreme Reach is cloud-based and needed a good network provider and content delivery expert to help deliver their content in a better fashion and to ensure this, it would be leveraging colocation and route-optimized Performance IP solutions from Internap. According to the agreement, Extreme Reach will use colocation from Internap’s data center in Santa Clara, California, and will also leverage Internap’s patented Managed Internet Route Optimizer (MIRO) technology to ensure reliable and high performance delivery of their customer content around the globe.
At its end, Internap mentioned that it was happy with the deal, and that since Extreme Reach was a great example of a Company that leverages the power of cloud computing and networks, the latter’s selection of Internap was a sign of the scalability and reliability of Internap’s colocation services.

Last Monday (on April 23, 2012), Level 3 Communications, the leading international provider of network and IP-based solutions and Content Delivery Network services, announced that Collaborative Telecare Networks (CTN), one of the leading providers of network connectivity services to health care industry has selected Level 3’s offerings to improve its network reach.
With the larger requirements in performance and bandwidth among the emerging telemedicine applications, Collaborative Telecare needed a solution that would allow its customers to reliably transfer their contents in a secure fashion, and that is where with its Tier 1 network, Level 3 emerged as a logical choice. CTM mentioned that it will also leverage Level 3’s High Speed IP (HSIP) and colocation services along with various security offerings to provide their healthcare customers with a truly high-performing global network.
Both Level 3 and Collaborative Telecare Networks were happy with the deal, and Level 3 also mentioned that using its uniquely designed offerings will allow the latter with unmatched scalability and minimal latency for their customers.

Today (on May 1, 2012), PeerApp, one of the leading providers of transparent caching platform for delivering Internet content better, announced that IBW, a full-service broadband provider in Central America had selected it UltraBand transparent caching solution to improve the performance of delivering content and reducing network overhead costs and congestion.
Since UltraBand platform automatically figures out the popular content and caches it in the network edges, it not only improves performance, but reduces transit bandwidth by a significant margin. IBW mentioned that it needed a good transparent caching solution for delivering rich media content to its customers in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua among other regions and after a series of evaluations, it finally decided to go with PeerApp UltraBand, since the latter supports HTTP file downloads, video and peer-to-peer traffic from the same platform.
At its end, PeerApp mentioned that it was happy to be selected by IBW and mentioned that the latter had deployed its UltraBand solution at all its four operating Companies’ networks.

CipSoft mentioned that it needed a good gaming support provider and the 100% uptime SLA and the geographically optimized global network of Internap also helps CipSoft meet the traffic peaks that hit during its bi-annual game updates or vacation seasons.
At its end, Internap mentioned that was happy with the deal, and had already been selected by more than 30% of the top Internet gaming companies for its CDN, colocation, enterprise IP and intelligent routing solutions.

This Tuesday (on April 24, 2012), Level 3 Communications, the leading provider of fiber-based communication services and Content Delivery Network solutions, announced that The Golf WareHouse, which is the world’s largest golf retailer, had selected Level 3’s Total Site Performance offering to speed its website TWG.com.
By leveraging the frontend optimization options provided by the Total Site Performance tool that improves the performance by optimizing content as per the requester’s browser. Apart from optimizing the content, the Total Site Performance tool also dynamically changes the pages and delivers them faster to the audience. While the original page took a massive 10 seconds to load, with this deployment, it was cut to almost 5 seconds, and when TGW added new servers and improved the load time to 5 seconds, Level 3’s solutions improved it further and brought it down to around 2.5 seconds, thus improving it by almost 50%.
At its end, Level 3 mentioned that it was happy with the deal, and also stated that the improved load times and scalability would allow TGW to provide better customer experience and increased customer satisfaction, thus bringing them more sales.
