CloudFront Provides Information of its Strong Growth

Yesterday (on November 29, 2011), Amazon CloudFront, the cloud-based offering from Amazon Web Services, announced that its customer base had more than doubled since last year, thus suggesting the strong growth that it had observed in the CDN market by providing its easily integrated S3 storage and EC2 cloud hosting solutions along with CloudFront.

Amazon mentioned that the customer base has now crossed more than 20,000 active customers, which includes giants like Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), IMDb and Sega, along with the new smaller startups like Encoding.com as well. The Company mentioned that the steep growth to 20000+ customers from just 43-odd customers in Oct 2008, shows that its aggressive addition of multiple services, having 21 PoP locations around the globe, better and more hierarchical pricing structure and high quality of service and reliability had been acknowledged by its customers.

The Company mentioned that it is striving to go ahead with its innovative services and growth model and based on the customer numbers and data, Amazon CloudFront is now the largest global CDN provider in terms of the number of customers supported.
