Yesterday (on April 19, 2011), DaCast the provider of the only self-service platform for live streaming and monetization,
announced a new feature that would enable customers to add live streams to their Facebook pages. This feature will theoretically enable the more than 500 million active Facebook users to provide live broadcasts on their Social Media pages.
The new feature, which will be available from today itself, just requires the DaCast customers to create a post on the wall with their channel URL, and this will ensure that live streaming starts happening. The other benefit is that the users do not need to download any additional plug-ins or permissions to start their own live events. This makes it an ideal tool for local bands and others, who want to host their live events with as minimal requirements as just a webcam and an internet connection.
DaCast mentioned that while Facebook already supported integrations for live streaming from other players like Ustream and Livestream, the addition of DaCast would enable a much broader audience to create their live video streams.
