Today (on April 3, 2012), Aryaka, the leading provider of WAN optimization solution that allows customers to get better use of their networks, announced
that Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), the global leader in hospitality design, had selected its WAN optimization solutions over MPLS networks and products from Riverbed Technologies.
HBA mentioned that it had been using FTP to exchange its large AutoCAD and other design files, and while this worked fine on LAN, the performance had taken a huge hit on the Company’s global WAN. The high latency and reduced throughput had made it difficult for the Company to scale up for its newer projects, and discussions with AT&T for a dedicated line and Riverbed for solutions seemed to suggest that the deployment would not only be extremely expensive, but also would take months to finish. On the other hand, Aryaka’s solution allowed the Company to have a much cheaper solution, and the cloud-based WAN solution only took a few weeks to deploy.
Both the Companies mentioned that they were happy with the deal and Aryaka also mentioned that moving to its WAN optimization solution allowed HBA to reduce data transfers by almost 34%, and the download times almost improved by 10x (from 30 minutes to just 3 minutes).
