Highwinds Collaborate Zencoder for HTTP Streaming

Yesterday (on November 8, 2011), Highwinds, one of the leading providers of Content Delivery Network services, and Zencoder, the leading provider of cloud-based video encoding services, announced that they will partner with each other for providing a fast and generic encoding and video distribution solution for content creators and publishers.

As part of this deal, the content providers will be able to leverage the cloud-based automatic encoders that support H.264/MPEG-4 and convert it into the other formats that the Zencoder supports. Once the content is generated, the video solutions can be directly exported to the Content Distribution network of Highwinds, provide their end-customers with features like adaptive bit-rate, and extremely fast localized HTTP streaming. The solution supports Apple iOS, Flash, Microsoft IIS and Adobe HTTP Dynamic streaming, so that content can be delivered across desktops, laptops, tablet devices and smart phones.

Both Highwinds and Zencoder were happy with the development, and Zencoder mentioned that it would provide Highwinds’ customers with a 10% discount on their batch video encoding jobs.
