Level 3 Communications, the leading provider of CDN and IP-based solutions,
announced that it had completed a major global expansion of its Content Delivery Network reach, and to meet up the growth and requirements of its customers, the Company also more than doubled its global capacity over the last couple years.
Level 3 mentioned that its global network capacity in 2010 was around 2.15 Tbps and now the global CDN capacity has crossed 5.6 Tbps. Apart from improving the speed of the network, the Company also added PoP locations in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Saudi Arabia and Canada, and recently also added a connection in East Africa, thus allowing Level 3 to have its reach in both North and South America, Asia Pacific, Middle-East Asia as well as Africa. The reach and capacity makes it the number one choice for global leaders like Netflix as a CDN provider.
At its end, Level 3 mentioned that it was extremely happy with the brisk pace and the smooth network upgradation, and mentioned that it would continue to scale its networks up further, thus improving the QoS for its customers.
