Limelight’s Acquisition of EyeWonder Complete
Limelight Networks started the process of acquiring Eyewonder Inc. in 2009, but effective April 30, 2010, the acquisition is deemed complete. Till now the core competencies of Limelight Networks included on-demand supply of software and infrastructure services for all sorts of Internet-enabled devices to ensure better customer relationships and optimized advertising. On the other hand EyeWonder mainly dealt with technologies related to interactive digital advertising for more effective ad campaigns.Since the above companies work on related fields and yet have different core businesses, the acquisition is deemed to bring more value to Limelight by providing the company with Eyewonder’s value-added monetization capabilities on their existing platforms and services.
The fact that EyeWonder will allow more monetization for clients by providing them solutions that extend their existing projects and also bring more Ad-based options on various internet-based devices and mobiles will Limelight’s solutions more attractive, since it would allow customers to squeeze more value from their online initiatives.
While there are risks involved with any mergers and acquisitions to ensure that the new company has a proper integration, the current Limelight management seems optimistic. On May 3, 2010 Jeff Lunsford, the Chairman and CEO of Limelight said, “Limelight Networks, now together with EyeWonder, is well positioned to capitalize on the shift of content consumption and advertising spend towards the growing world of Internet-connected devices. We are pleased our respective shareholders approved this transaction, and we look forward to building long-term value as one of the largest and most technologically-advanced service providers in the rich media publishing and advertising sectors.”
