New Content Delivery Partner Program Launched by Level 3

Level 3 has started a new Content Delivery Partner, or CDP, program with an eye on strengthening and expanding visibility, reach and value of its global portfolio of content delivery and broadcast services. The CDP program will enable direct resellers, solutions partners and value-added resellers, or VARs, to enhance end-user’s online and broadcasting experiences by leveraging Level 3 CDN and Vyvx broadcast platforms. Through close collaborations between Level 3 and partner companies, it will allow customization of value-added solutions  that will better link content creators and content consumers.

Steve Sklepowich, the director for Silverlight at Microsoft, stated that Microsoft was pleased to be a member of Level 3’s new CDP program and that Level 3 had proven to be an online content delivery leader and that Microsoft is looking forward to collaborating with Level 3 to give consumers higher quality interactive experiences with IIS Smooth Streaming and Silverlight.

By leveraging Level 3 network’s capabilities, the company will be able to offer a full suite of broadcast-delivery and CDN technologies; resulting in Level 3 gaining the position of a true end-user solutions provider. Level 3 will be able to deliver content from creation to consumption, while enabling Content Delivery Partners full advantage of Level 3’s substantial capabilities.

Some of the CDPs of Level 3 include companies like Cisco Systems, Adobe, Microsoft, Multicast Media, Savvis, Gomez and Inlet Technologies, among others. Melanie Posey, research director at IDC, stated that the new program will help to increase the scope and reach of Level 3’s content delivery value proposition in a highly competitive marketplace. The program will show Level 3’s commitment to being the ultimate provider of solutions for online digital media.

“Our new partner program will enable further awareness of our unique suite of content delivery services and represents our continued commitment to the digital media arena,” said Peter Neill, senior vice president of the Content Markets group at Level 3. ”By expanding the reach of our service capabilities, Level 3, our business partners and the end users all stand to benefit.”
