This Tuesday (on July 17, 2012), OnApp, one of the leading providers of cloud, Content Delivery Networks and storage solutions, announced that OnApp’s cloud management platform will add a variety of new features along with support for VMware with its version 3.0 release, thus enabling customers to run and offer their cloud services to the large growing base of VMware-based customers.
In general, various telecommunications companies and large hosting providers have moved to VMware as their primary hypervisor, and this new version will allow service providers to run VMware ESXi hypervisors along with Xen and KVM hypervisors though OnApp’s intuitive Control Panel itself. Apart from this, OnApp also added a Cloud Boot feature, which will allow the cloud to auto-detect and auto-provision any new hardware that is connected to the network, thus reducing the deployment time further. Apart from this, OnApp Cloud v3.0 will also add new features to OnApp’s Federated CDN offering and add support for both live and on-demand video streaming across various protocols.
OnApp mentioned that it was happy with the new capabilities, which will allow service providers to leverage OnApp Cloud’s applications on VMware hypervisors and registration for OnApp Cloud v3.0 beta can be done by clicking here.
