Last Thursday (on July 5, 2012), Skytide, one of the leading providers of video analytics, looked back at its paper on Predictions for 2012 and
announced the release of another paper “Mid-Year Review of 2012 Online Video Predictions”, which considers the state of the Internet after first 6 months of 2012 and tries to see how the actual results are as compared to their predictions.
Since Skytide did not mentioned where the capacity crunch is, and since Cisco updated its VNI Forecast for 2011 to 2016, which predicts a 50% video over IP growth and 100% mobile video growth, Skytide rated itself as “Looking Good” in this aspect. Also, Skytide had mentioned that Federated CDN would become productized in 2012, and since Akamai and EdgeCast already announced their CDN Federation platforms, Skytide gave itself “Borderline” rating in this forecast. Apart from this, the Company rated itself as “Nailed It” for forcasting an increase in use of adaptive streaming, MSOs and IPTV providers to offer over-the-top services and increase in online video advertising budgets.
Overall, Skytide mentioned that its predictions are in line with what has happened. To view the papers, please
