Yottaa Unveils Content Delivery Network Offering

This Monday (on February 13, 2012), Yottaa Inc., one of the providers of web performance solutions and cloud routing and network technologies, announced the launch of Yottaa CDN – the Company’s new Content Delivery Network offering, which supports both static and dynamic caching and also features various content optimization options. The Yottaa CDN offering also offers dynamic site acceleration (DSA), thus allowing the customers to improve their end-user experience by speeding up even the dynamic content. Apart from this, since the solution directly integrates with the Yottaa Site Speed Optimizer, not only is the configuration and implementation much easier, but also it provides extremely fast performance. The Yottaa CDN also encompasses the Company’s patented cloud-routing technology and front-end optimization into a single offering, and also supports various analytics information for the customers as well. Yottaa mentioned that the Company currently has 20 PoP locations around the globe for the CDN offering. Yottaa also got a positive testimonial from Net Effect Corporation, UK, which mentioned that the CDN speeded up their slowest portals and made them among the fastest websites.

HKBN Collaborates with CDNetworks for Improving Web Content Performance

Last Tuesday (on February 7, 2012), CDNetworks, the only multinational Content Delivery Network provider that has local infrastructure in six continents including mainland China, announced that it has entered in a strategic alliance with Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited (HKBN) to improve the web experience for Hong Kong’s growing online audience. As part of the deal, CDNetworks will optimize the international transit links of HKBN by leveraging its global network, and improve the application performance and web content delivery by fetching the content and bringing it near the visitor. With its advanced caching solutions, CDNetworks will also reduce the CDN traffic for the service providers by as much as 95 percent. Apart from this, since CDNetworks already has a strong presence in the APAC region, it was the logical choice for HKBN, Hong Kong’s fastest growing broadband service provider. Both CDNetworks and HKBN were happy with the deal, which will allow better Internet services and faster content delivery to Hong Kong-based traffic.

Limelight Networks Launches Managed CDN Offering, the Limelight Deploy

Yesterday (on February 7, 2012), Limelight Networks, one of the leading providers of Content Delivery Network services and solutions, announced that they are formally launching their Managed CDN platform offering, the Limelight Deploy. This offering is aimed at allowing network operators, telecom companies and content aggregators to quickly deploy CDN on their existing infrastructure. These enterprises and customers are looking at ways in which they can leverage their existing infrastructure and implement Content Delivery Networks to improve the scalability and performance of their networks, thus reducing the infrastructure costs and time-to-market their solutions. The proprietary CDN solution also allows customers to keep their data secure, while also allowing customers an option to leverage Limelight’s network, thus allowing more than 85% data to be delivered from the public Internet and ensuring high quality-of-service for the end users. Limelight Deploy will work with HTTP, HTTPS, Flash and Windows Media and also provide various analytics information to the users. The Company also presented the Limelight Deploy offering in a work shop at the CDN Asia 2012 Conference.

HostColor Leverages NetDNA’s CDN for its Hosting Customers

This Saturday (on February 4, 2012), HostColor.com, one of the leading providers of web hosting and IT infrastructure services, announced that it would be leveraging the services of the fast growing and popular Content Delivery Network service from NetDNA for improving the performance, scalability and reliability of its webhosting offerings. As part of the current deal, all the customers of HostColor will be provided with a one-month free trial of NetDNA’s services and then the interested customers could also use the coupon CDN2HC for getting a 25% discount on NetDNA’s services. HostColor had mentioned in December that it would be adding CDN services to its offerings, and at that time, it had provided support for CloudFlare, and mentioned that it would add one more service by Q1, 2012. This is where the NetDNA’s addition falls into place, and the customers will be provided the free trial till the end of February 2012. Both NetDNA and HostColor were happy about the partnership, and the NetDNA offering will be made available to all customers of its hosting plans, including dedicated, shared and VPS hosting customers.

EdgeCast Doubles Revenue in 2011 as Compared to 2010

Yesterday (on January 31, 2012), EdgeCast Networks, the world’s fastest and most reliable Content Delivery Network service provider, announced that it had doubled all, its revenue, customer base and employee headcount in the fruitful year 2011 as compared to the respective numbers in 2010, thus showcasing the Company’s strong growth. Among the major changes included the expansion of EdgeCast Networks in providing licensed CDN services to various telecommunication Companies including a major telco in the US and Pacnet in Asia, and the EdgeCast Application Delivery Network offering for dynamic site acceleration. The Company also added PoP in Madrid and Osaka, and with its fast performance and 100 percent uptime record, the CDN provider added more than a thousand new customers in 2011, including big names like DailyMotion and Imgur, thus crossing 4000 customers. EdgeCast Networks mentioned that it was extremely happy with the numbers, and 2011 had been a record year of growth. The management mentioned that while they are proud of the good results, the Company is now focusing on making 2012 an even more successful year in terms of growth and network reach.

Jet-Stream Collaborates with Saguna Networks for Mobile CDN

Today (on January 23, 2012), Jet-Stream, the award winning market leader in Content Delivery Networks and Saguna Networks, one of the leading providers in Radio Access Network (RAN) application acceleration, announced that they will be entering into a strategic alliance for providing various solutions and offerings for creating content delivery networks for mobile devices. As part of this offering, the Companies are combining the Saguna CODS from Saguna Networks and the VideoExchange Content Delivery Network technology of Jet-Stream to provide the customers with a solution that can integrate their RAN infrastructure with the scalable and reliable global network of Jet-Stream. Apart from this, the mobile operators can also leverage this solution to stream OTT content and also monetize it by reaching out much faster to a larger audience, thanks to the approach of leveraging the federated CDN. Both Saguna Networks and Jet-Stream were happy with the collaboration and mentioned that they would showcase the unified offering in February end at the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona.

Streamworks Leverages Level 3′s CDN Services

This Wednesday (on January 18, 2012), Level 3 Communications, the leading provider of Content Delivery Network and other IP-based communication services, announced that leading global streaming Company, Streamworks, has signed an agreement with the CDN provider to use its vast network and global PoP for streaming content for its customers. Streamworks mentioned that it was making various innovations in the field of improving the streaming experience for its end users, and the Universal Delivery Network (uDN) of Streamworks makes use of various CDN solutions and ISPs to provide the best results to its end-users. Addition of Level 3 will help the Company have further reach, better reliability and scalability for its customers, thus allowing them to monetize their content in a better way. Level 3 mentioned that it was happy to be selected by Streamworks and the latter mentioned that it would be leveraging the CDN of Level 3 for providing live feed and video streams of its Associated Press Television News (APTN) Direct news video service.

ChinaCache CDN to Help Support Xiaomi Mobile Pre-Sales

This Friday (on January 13, 2012), ChinaCache, the largest Content Delivery Network provider based in China, announced that it was selected to help support the online rush during the third round of pre-sales for the Xiaomi smart phones, which have been launched by Xiaomi Technology Company, one of the leading providers of smart phones in China. Xiaomi mentioned that it was expecting a huge surge in traffic on the day it would open the pre-sales and needed a good and reliable CDN to manage that spike and also support security of the online payments and that is where with its advanced global CDN services, managed IDC resources and cloud computing solutions, ChinaCache helped them. The Company mentioned that using the global network of ChinaCache, Xiaomi was able to support the order of more than 500 thousand smart phones that came in on the pre-launch day. At its end, ChinaCache mentioned that it was extremely happy to support Xiaomi manage its traffic spikes better and it would continue to support the smart phone provider with its services in the future.

EdgeCast Networks Announces Licensed CDN Program

Yesterday (on January 9, 2012), EdgeCast Networks, the world’s fastest and most reliable Content Delivery Network services provider, announced the launch of its licensed CDN program using which various telecom providers and network owners can deploy EdgeCast’s licensed CDN software on their own infrastructure without needing to implement it from scratch. Edgecast Networks mentioned that it had announced this launch after having closely worked with and successfully deploying CDN solution for a Tier 1 U.S. Telecommunications carrier. This deployment phase took about twelve months, but EdgeCast mentioned that it exceeded expectations of the client for all the milestones that were chalked out. A couple weeks back, EdgeCast Networks handed over the entire CDN solution of 12 PoP in the US with load balancing, infrastructure management and intelligent routing services along with reporting, support and customer management services. Apart from this, EdgeCast is also closely working with Asia-based Pacnet for creating and deploying another EdgeCast powered CDN. Apart from this, EdgeCast also mentioned that next in line is the plan to create an EdgeCast Federation, which will allow the CDN providers to buy CDN capacity among one another, thus providing them with wider network reach.

Host Color Adds Free CDN to its Shared Hosting Offerings

Yesterday (on December 18, 2011), HostColor.com, one of the leading providers of web hosting services in US and Europe, announced that it is working towards adding various Content Delivery Network services to its shared hosting plans, so that its customers not only have faster websites, but also the server load on the webhost remains low. As of now, Host Color has already implemented and deployed the free CDN offering of CloudFlare and the Company has mentioned that it will be adding a couple more Content Delivery Network providers, so that its customers can choose between 3 CDN Companies. Host Color also mentioned that using of CloudFlare CDN will help the hosting provider in securing its customers’ websites against attacks, alert the visitors’ whose computers are infected and also leverage the 14 data centers of the latter for faster website loading. Host Color mentioned that it was happy with how CloudFlare was performing for its customers, and also mentioned that they will add 2 more similar services in Q1 and Q2 of 2012.
