Yesterday (on March 21, 2012), OnApp, one of the leading providers of cloud based solutions, announced that it had launched a Free version of its leading cloud deployment and management platform, the OnApp cloud to allow customers to create public, private or hybrid clouds quickly and easily without paying any money.
OnApp management mentioned that creating a free solution was always on the cards, and this was aimed at making it easy for new customers to try the power of the cloud without paying anything. While the solution is extremely easy to install and can be deployed on standard hardware in just a few hours, it also does not have any commercial restrictions. The major difference with respect to the full version is that the free version allows creation of Xen hypervisors up to 16 cores and do not come with the 24×7 global support from OnApp staff, however, upgrading to full version from the free version is also seamless and extremely easy.
OnApp mentioned that the free cloud offering would help various businesses to leverage cloud for their Platform-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service solutions, and the Company mentioned the launch of its distributed storage system, the OnApp storage.

This Thursday (on March 15, 2012), GoGrid, one of the leading providers for cloud-based hosting and Infrastructure-as-a-Service solutions, announced that leading analyst firm Gartner Inc. had positioned it in the Challenger’s quadrant of the “Magic Quadrant for Managed Hosting” report by considering the Company’s vision and execution abilities.
According to this report, the Managed hosting covers both physical and virtual services that encompass various hosting solution including cloud and Infrastructure-as-a-Service. The report focuses on the enterprise-class solutions and owing to the innovative services, extremely focused vision and high quality of services, GoGrid has been considered in the Magic Quadrant report. This Tuesday (on February 28, 2012), Akamai Technologies, one of the leaders in cloud-based and web optimization services and Riverbed Technology, another provider of optimization solutions, announced that they had partnered for integrating the Internet Optimization technology of Akamai with the wide area network (WAN) optimization technology of Riverbed to create the Steelhead Cloud Accelerator.
The Steelhead Cloud Accelerator is similar to the other Steelhead products and run on the Riverbed Optimization System (RiOS). The customer needs to install an enhanced version of RiOS to connect to the Cloud Accelerator in its own network, and when this instance connects with RiOS on the Akamai Intelligent Platform, the acceleration starts kicking in. For every SaaS application they want to enable the Steelhead Cloud Accelerator, the customers only need to deploy a single instance of the solution, and with its optimizations and support of Akamai’s network, the users start getting better performance.
As of now, the Steelhead Cloud Accelerator supports Google Apps, Salesforce.com and Microsoft Office 365 SaaS applications. The Steelhead Cloud Accelerator will be a subscription-based add-on to the existing Steelhead suite and the general availability of the unified solution will be from Q1, 2012.

This Wednesday (on February 29, 2012), NTT America, the subsidiary of the NTT Communications which provides network and infrastructure solutions and Integralis, one of the providers of IT security and information risk management services, announced that they have collaborated to create a high performance, extremely scalable and highly secure cloud offering for their enterprise customers.
As part of this collaboration, NTT America will leverage its virtualized data centers and high speed network around the globe, whereas Integralis will use its Managed Security Solution (MSS) for creating the secure cloud. Among the various aspects of integration, include the fact that the management platforms and security devices are installed at NTT America’s data Center locations and Integralis runs a SOC at the data centers for monitoring security devices. With a wide range of features including security audits, penetration testing and other vulnerability assessments, the joint offering definitely meets the security compliance requirements.
Both the Companies are happy with the partnership, and while Integralis explained a bit about the integration at RSA Conference, San Francisco over the last few days, the Companies will host a VIP Security Seminar in San Jose, CA on March 30, 2012.

This Monday (on February 27, 2012), Pavlov Media, one of the largest private providers of broadband internet services, announced the launch of its Tesseractiv Content Delivery Network offering, which would allow the residential users in Urbana, Illinois to get multiple Gigabit speeds from their existing Internet connections.
By making use of the Tesseractiv Content Delivery Network, Pavlov Media will be able to provide its customers with much faster speeds thus allowing them to stream media and other rich content extremely fast. The Company has already completed the development of its optimization techniques and filed for a patent for the same, and it is also planning to roll out the solution in New York, Indianapolis, Atlanta and Phoenix among other places, thus covering quite a few states of the United States.
Pavlov Media mentioned that it was happy with the development and the offering would be demonstrated at the NAA Student Housing Exposition in Las Vegas starting today and would be presented until March 2.

Today (on February 23, 2012), Internap Network Services Corporation, one of the leading providers of intelligent IT infrastructure services, announced that Scholastic Education, one of the divisions of Scholastic, which deals with publishing and managing online content for children’s education, had selected its dedicated cloud and route-optimized Performance IP network solutions.
Scholastic had wanted a scalable solution to meet with the growing requirements of managing its web-based educational offerings for the K-12 schools. While the Company originally deployed a traditional software license model in the past, it moved to Internap’s private cloud and Software-as-a-Service solution in 2011 for more scalability. In addition, owing to Inernap’s dedicated cloud based on VMware’s vSphere and the Performance IP solution with its patented Managed Internet Route Optimizer (MIRO) technology allowed Scholastic to cut costs and provide high performance connectivity to its customers.
Both Scholastic and Internap were happy with the deal, and Internap mentioned that Scholastic recently added capabilities for disaster recovery to its private cloud infrastructure.

Last Friday (on February 17, 2012), Internap Network Services Corporation, one of the leading providers of intelligent IT infrastructure services, announced that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) had named it as one of the recipient of its 2011 Cloud Computing Excellence award, which was presented by the Cloud Computing Magazine.
TMC mentioned that it had selected Internap based on the latter’s deployment at Digital Technology International (DTI), where the Company helped in creating a scalable and reliable cloud solution to support DTI’s business models. Internap not only provided capabilities to easily balance the computing and storage, but its cloud also allows expanding the cloud if new resources are added. Apart from this, the Company’s high performance and stringent SLA to meet 100% uptime, and support for various cloud solutions including VMWare and OpenStack ensured that DTI could get the most out of the cloud.
Internap mentioned that it was honored to be named as one of the recipients for this award, which was only given to 30 entries from more than 200, which were nominated for their cloud-based innovations.

Last Tuesday (on January 31, 2012), GoGrid, one of the leading providers of cloud infrastructure services and solutions, announced that web design and hosting provider Izoox is leveraging its cloud services to reduce its operational costs and get scalability to expand without getting in the complexity of maintaining complex infrastructure.

Today (on January 30, 2012), GoGrid, one of the leading providers of managed and cloud-based hosting solutions and content optimization services, announced that Condé Nast Digital Germany, one of the leading German magazines publishers, is leveraging the GoGrid hybrid architecture for providing high-speed and reliable browsing experience to its website audience.
Actually, first Condé Nast Digital Germany, just moved one of its publications, Glamour, to the hybrid architecture of GoGrid, and then impressed by the performance and the amount of data security provided by GoGrid, the publisher moved its other top titles including GQ and Vogue to GoGrid as well. Condé Nast Digital Germany mentioned that it was extremely sensitive about the data security issue, and with its dedicated machines that natively run MySQL and extremely stringent data security practices, GoGrid’s hybrid model became the best choice for it.

Last Thursday (on January 26, 2012), GigaSpaces Technologies, one of the leading pioneers of next-generation application platforms, announced the launch of its new Multi-Site Data Replication offering, which allow customers to leverage GigaSpaces market-leading in-memory data grid (IMDG) and scaling technology to replicate their data over WAN.
The solution supports mirroring of data to GigaSpaces data grid using various API calls, configuration of replication gateways, and then the deployment of these gateways across the sites for maintaining data consistency.
