ChinaCache and BUPT to Collaborate for Networks’ Related Research

This Wednesday (on May 2, 2012), ChinaCache, the China-based leading provider of Content Delivery Network and Internet content solutions, announced that it had collaborated with Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (“BUPT”), one of the leading Universities in telecommunications domain for establishing the Content Aware & Intelligent Services Lab (CIAS).

Basically, the CIAS will be used for doing research about the next generation networking methodologies and will be based on the IPv6, and this is where ChinaCache’s CDN experience and technologies and BUPT’s research capabilities will join hands for further improvisations. Among the research projects, the first in line is going to be a client-based Internet awareness and network acceleration solution, and there are various other projects aimed at using content-aware networks and improving the performance and thus the end-user experience.

At its end, ChinaCache mentioned that it was excited with the prospect of working with BUPT at the CAIS, and since China is already growing and has a broadband initiative in place now, the research will help ChinaCache in its goal of improving the performance of networks further.

Internap to Power Extreme Reach’s Video Advertising Management Platform

Last Thursday (on April 26, 2012), Internap Network Services Corporation, the leading provider of intelligent IT infrastructure solutions and Content Delivery Network services, announced that Extreme Reach Inc., which is one of the leading providers of video advertising management platforms is leveraging its services for better performance and unmatched scalability.

The Video Advertising platform of Extreme Reach is cloud-based and needed a good network provider and content delivery expert to help deliver their content in a better fashion and to ensure this, it would be leveraging colocation and route-optimized Performance IP solutions from Internap. According to the agreement, Extreme Reach will use colocation from Internap’s data center in Santa Clara, California, and will also leverage Internap’s patented Managed Internet Route Optimizer (MIRO) technology to ensure reliable and high performance delivery of their customer content around the globe.

At its end, Internap mentioned that it was happy with the deal, and that since Extreme Reach was a great example of a Company that leverages the power of cloud computing and networks, the latter’s selection of Internap was a sign of the scalability and reliability of Internap’s colocation services.

IBW Selects PeerApp’s Transparent Caching Solution

Today (on May 1, 2012), PeerApp, one of the leading providers of transparent caching platform for delivering Internet content better, announced that IBW, a full-service broadband provider in Central America had selected it UltraBand transparent caching solution to improve the performance of delivering content and reducing network overhead costs and congestion.

Since UltraBand platform automatically figures out the popular content and caches it in the network edges, it not only improves performance, but reduces transit bandwidth by a significant margin. IBW mentioned that it needed a good transparent caching solution for delivering rich media content to its customers in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua among other regions and after a series of evaluations, it finally decided to go with PeerApp UltraBand, since the latter supports HTTP file downloads, video and peer-to-peer traffic from the same platform.

At its end, PeerApp mentioned that it was happy to be selected by IBW and mentioned that the latter had deployed its UltraBand solution at all its four operating Companies’ networks.

Internap Helps CipSoft Provide High Performance Gaming

Yesterday (on April 26, 2012), Internap Network Services Corporation, the leading provider of intelligent and scalable IT infrastructure solutions, announced that CipSoft GmbH, one of the leading Germany-based providers of online games, has selected Internap’s managed hosting and global, route-optimized Performance IP services to supports its growing player base.

CipSoft mentioned that it had released Tibia, the world’s first graphical massively multi-player online role playing games (MMORPG), and since the game now has more than three hundred thousand players around the globe, it needed required bandwidth and scalability to provide high-performance gaming. CipSoft mentioned that it needed a good gaming support provider and the 100% uptime SLA and the geographically optimized global network of Internap also helps CipSoft meet the traffic peaks that hit during its bi-annual game updates or vacation seasons.

At its end, Internap mentioned that was happy with the deal, and had already been selected by more than 30% of the top Internet gaming companies for its CDN, colocation, enterprise IP and intelligent routing solutions.

Aryaka Expands its WAN Optimization Services, Enters Brazil

Last Tuesday (on April 17, 2012), Aryaka, the provider of the world’s first cloud-based WAN optimization and application acceleration solution, announced that the Company is expanding into Brazil to reach out to the country’s fast-growing multinational firms and grab a part of the rapidly expanding businesses in the Latin America region. Since Brazil is the core of the Latin America region, and with Aryaka getting a lot of pull from the Companies in and around the region for its WAN optimization-as-a-service solution, the Company considered expanding into Brazil as a logical next step. Apart from this, by expanding its presence in Brazil by connecting to various channel partners would also allow Aryaka have a more global reach by connecting the businesses of the region with its Points of Presence connecting various parts of the globe. At its end, Aryaka mentioned that Brazil is one of the fastest growing economies and it recently overtook United Kingdom to become the sixth largest economy, and hence Aryaka’s expanding in the country to provide affordable and scalable WAN optimization services made logical sense.

United Technologies ApS Selects ChinaCache’s Services

Last Wednesday (on April 18, 2012), ChinaCache, the China-based Content Delivery Network and IP services providing branch of ChinaCache International Holdings Ltd., announced that it had signed a contract with Unity Technologies ApS (Unity), which provides an award-winning development platform for games and other applications. As part of the deal, ChinaCache will provide CDN services to Unity for providing faster software downloads to the latter’s customers, especially in China and Asia regions. Unity mentioned that it had required a scalable and reliable provider to ensure high quality and performance delivery of its platform and content, especially in the rapidly growing user-based in Asia-Pacific region and that is where, with is wide reach and high performance, the ChinaCache CDN solution was a perfect fit. At its end, ChinaCache mentioned that it was happy with the deal and it would closely work with Unity to provide the latter with various security and cloud-based solutions in addition to the CDN for meeting with its requirements better.

Highwinds GDN Selected by Online Warmongers

Today (on April 23, 2012), Highwinds, the leading provider of content delivery, network and cloud-based IP services, announced that it had been selected by Online Warmongers to improve the delivery and network performance of the production version of its AAA-rated free-to-play shooter game, War Inc. Battle Zone, which had more than a million players in its Beta.

Since the game required immense scalability and network reach to provide high performance content delivery, Online Warmongers decided to leverage Highwinds Game Delivery Network (GDN), which is the first game-delivery specific CDN offering. Apart from the GDN, Highwinds will also use its StrikeTracker 2 console to provide Online Warmongers with analytics and information about player geography, completion ratio and other real-time information, thus allowing the latter’s marketing team to make strategic decisions.

At its end, Highwinds mentioned that it was extremely happy with the deal and the prospect of working with and helping a customer like Online Warmongers, which seemed to have a lot of potential of growth, in growing and expanding their global reach.

Level 3′s Helps Hexaglobe Improve its Global Connectivity

This Wednesday (on April 18, 2012), Level 3 Communications, the leading provider of fiber-based communication services, announced that the Paris-based media services provider, Hexaglobe had selected the network provider to provide reliable and fast delivery of its high-quality video content to its media and broadcast customers.

As part of its deal, Level 3 will be providing high-speed IP services to Hexaglobe for supporting its rich media streaming and content management services. By leveraging the global services of Level 3, Hexaglobe will also be able to get increased connectivity in not only Europe, but also in the United Stated. Moreover, since the solution provides scalability by distributing the load, it will allow Hexaglobe to provide rich media without having performance hiccups, even when there are spikes in traffic.

Both Level 3 and Hexaglobe mentioned that they were happy with the deal, and Level 3 mentioned that it is also working at upgrading its global network to support its customers better.

SmileyCookie.com Selects Yottaa Site Speed Optimizer

This Tuesday (on April 17, 2012), Yottaa Inc., one of the leading providers of web performance optimization solutions, announced that SmileyCookie.com, the leading online retailer of sugar cookies, has selected it Site Speed Optimizer to improve the performance of its Magento-based online e-commerce platform. SmileyCookie mentioned that since it was an e-commerce platform, having a fast website was key from getting better sales, and since Magento itself is slower as compared to some of the other web technologies, it needed a good website optimizer. Moreover, the Company also wanted a solution that could scale up when there are traffic spikes, and also provide reliability, performance and security, and that is where Yottaa will help SmileyCookie. The Company also mentioned that after deploying Yottaa, they had a major marketing drive which drove traffic up by almost 100x and Yottaa still scaled up and ensure high performance for its customers. At its end, Yottaa mentioned that it was happy with the deal, and that after its deployment, SmileyCookie observed 10% less bounce rate, 30% more ‘time-on-site’ and an overall 18% increase in the average order size.

PeerApp UltraBand to Speed up Mobile Network of MTS India

Last Tuesday (on April 10, 2012), PeerApp, the leading provider of transparent caching services for improving online content delivery, announced that Indian telecom provider Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited, which provides services under the brand name of MTS, will be leveraging its UltraBand transparent caching platform to improve content delivery. MTS provides mobile broadband services to more than 300 towns in India under the brand-name of MBlaze, and with the rapidly increasing data needs of its users, it needed a good caching solution that would speed-up content delivery and also reduce the load on the network, thereby allowing the existing infrastructure to scale-up. The PeerApp UltraBand deployment provided MTS with not only faster content delivery, but also reduced the network load by 40% by intelligently detecting popular content and delivering it closer to the end-users. Both PeerApp and MTS were happy with the deal and PeerApp mentioned that MTS’s decision to deploy its UltraBand and the type of benefits it could provide show how good its technology is for improving content delivery, even on mobile networks.
