Yesterday (on April 3, 2012), Wowza Media Systems, the “Any Screen Done Right” media server software provider, announced that Unique Media TV has been added to its exclusive list of Streaming Partners, owing to the high levels of deployment as well as technical expertise and customer satisfaction of Wowza Media Server based products of the latter.
Unique Media makes use of Wowza Media Server for hosting and streaming live and video-on-demand content of its customers on its global streaming network. The Company’s top-class infrastructure and the reliability and scalability of Wowza Media Server, allows Unique Media to stream business conferences and entertainment events on a variety of devices and platforms. Among the huge broadcasts included Michael Jackson’s final tour announcement in 2009 and the launch of Nintendo 3DS gaming system in 2011.
At its end, Wowza Media Systems mentioned that collaborating with Companies like Unique Media allowed it to reach out to wider audiences and since Unique Media has had the right technology, support and Wowza deployments in place, it had added the latter to its Streaming Partners list, thus allowing better collaboration between the Companies.

Last Monday (on March 19, 2012), VBrick Systems, the leading provider of Enterprise IP Video solutions, announced that IDG’s Computerworld had named it as a 2012 Computerworld Honors Laureate for its innovative video streaming solutions that help improve public safety. The annual program honors IT applications that promote social, economic and educational changes in a positive way.

Yesterday (on March 20, 2012), EdgeCast Networks, one of the fastest and most reliable Content Delivery Network services providers, and Motorola Mobility, announced that they have entered into a strategic alliance where Motorola will integrate its on-demand, network DVR and IP CPE solutions with the Content Delivery Network services of EdgeCast.
The combination of these solutions will enable the customers to leverage Motorola’s expertise in the Video-on-Demand services and solutions, and combine them with the CDN of EdgeCast Networks to not only improve performance, but also support adaptive bitrate solution, thus providing a complete end-to-end IP video delivery offering. The partnership covers various aspects like support for various Motorola products, extremely flexible and configurable network settings, advanced analytics and reporting, along with deployment support for the service providers who wish to leverage this solution.
Both EdgeCast Networks and Motorola mentioned that they were happy with the unified solution that would create a truly cloud based IP video service. The solution will also allow customers to reduce network and infrastructure, while providing high scalability and performance gains.

Last Tuesday (on March 13, 2012), Wowza Media Systems, the “Any Screen Done Right” Company that has launched the Wowza Media Server solution, announced that Uvault, one of the providers of hosting, colocation and content delivery network services has achieved the Wowza Streaming Partner status owing to its close collaboration with Wowza Media Server solution.
Among the aspects considered for providing this status include the high level of deployment, customer satisfaction and the expertise that Uvault’s customers have had with the Wowza Media Server solution. Also, by leveraging the Wowza Media Server 3 for its cloud-based hosting services, Uvault is able to provide its customers with advanced streaming capabilities that includes encoding and transcoding to allow media to be streamed on all devices including IPTV, desktops, laptops, tablet devices and smart phones across Apple iOS, Microsoft SilverLight and Adobe Flash players.

Last Monday (on February 13, 2012), Octoshape, one of the leading innovators in streaming media technologies, announced that it had been selected by the National History Museum of London for streaming the rich media content of the latter to a wide range of academic and government institutions and global audiences around the world.
The National History Museum was looking for a video delivery solution, which could scale up to the requirements of its viewers and also provide high quality content and flexibility. Last Wednesday (on February 8, 2012), Limelight Networks, the leading provider of Content Delivery Network services and web optimization solutions, announced that the Punjab Kesari Group, one of the leading publishing houses in India, had selected its global computing platform and cloud-based optimization services for managing its online content.

Last Friday (on February 3, 2012), Highwinds, one of the leading providers of Content Delivery Networks and online video streaming solutions, announced that it is moving towards supporting HTTP streaming for its content publishing customers and slowly but steadily remove support for streaming the content using the RTMP.
In the current times, most of the CDN providers are moving towards the cacheable HTTP streaming options, and while multiple providers like Apple, Microsoft and Adobe have their own HTTP streaming protocols, the standardized DASH protocol is slowly becoming universal. Apart from this, with the scope of innovation being limited in RTMP, Companies like Akamai and Amazon are moving towards HTTP streaming, and Highwinds is also following the suit. Highwinds also mentioned that it is planning a strategy, which will enable them to surpass Akamai’s HDNetwork in the HTTP Streaming area.
Moreover, for customers using H.264 protocols, the move is pretty straight-forward and iOS gets supported for free, and so Highwinds is working hard to move its SMIL customers to the new system. The Company still supports RTMP, but it is in the process of moving its customers to HTTP, and has stopped accepting orders of new customers who request for RTMP streaming.

This Tuesday (on January 31, 2012), VBrick Systems, the leading provider of IP video solutions for enterprises, announced the launch of a Video Conference Streaming Gateway module, which will integrate with its H.264 Distributed Media Engine (DME) and allow customers to connect tens of thousands of viewers in video conferences.
The current video conferencing technology works using various different streaming technologies, but this new solution is aimed at unifying the content delivery and format management by leveraging VBrick’s technology and infrastructure and allowing the content to be streamed to PCs, laptops, tablet devices and smart phones across multiple sites.
