Tata Communications Completes BitGravity Acquisition

Today (on February 16, 2010), Tata Communications, the India-based Communications and Internet solutions provider, announced that it has completed its acquisition of the award winning content delivery network provider BitGravity. This announcement supplements the original announcement of Tata Communications’ acquiring BitGravity on January 11, 2011.

This acquisition will provide more control of the enhanced CDN and streaming capabilities solutions of BitGravity to Tata Communications, which can leverage them better by integrating these solutions with its global IP network. The aim of the joint entity is to integrate these products smoothly without affecting the quality of service to the existing customers. Tata Communications held an 11% stake in BitGravity since 2008, and the merger of the Companies will allow them to service their customers like NDTV, Web18, Quick Heal Technologies and Nimbus Communications better.

In the current setup, Perry Wu, the CEO and co-founder of BitGravity will continue to head the BitGravity team, and this team will continue to operate from San Francisco in conjunction with Tata Communications’ global CDN team.
