Tata Communications Officially Announces BitGravity Acquisition

Today (on January 11, 2011), Tata Communications, the India-based Content Delivery Network and a variety of other Communication-related services provider, officially announced that it would acquire the US-based Video streaming solutions provider BitGravity. This announcement confirms the rumor of Tata Communications acquiring BitGravity, which was moving strongly last week.

Tata Communication already owns 15 percent of BitGravity’s stake, and after the acquisition will be complete, it will hold 100 percent of the BitGravity entity. Tata Communications (Netherlands), which will function as a wholly owned subsidiary of the India-based Tata Communications, will acquire the BitGravity entity. This move is expected to allow Tata Communications to explore the various CDN-related solutions further. In past, the collaboration had already allowed Tata Communications to launch its global CDN and reach out to Companies like NDTV, IAH Games and Nimbus Communications among others.

Since BitGravity was a privately owned Company, the financial details about this deal have not been made public.
