Valve Selects Highwinds CDN for its Steam Platform
This Tuesday (on August 16, 2011), Highwinds, one of the leaders in the content delivery, network and cloud-based IP services industry, announced that Valve Corporation has decided to leverage its CDN services for improving the content delivery speed, performance and scalability of its Steam online gaming platform.
Supporting delivery of more than 1300 games to an audience of 30+ million active users required the Steam platform to be extremely robust and scalable, also with peak usage going as high as 5 million concurrent users made it essential for Valve to look for a solution that scales up and ensures that performance of its platform does not suffer. This is where, and with its global network infrastructure, high bandwidth capacity, intelligent routing solutions and services, Highwinds became a logical choice.
Both Highwinds and Valve were happy with this development, and this came very close to Highwinds’ announcement of providing specialized solution for online gaming providers with its all new GDN offering.
