Akamai Technologies, one of the global leaders in Content Delivery Networks, announced that it had acquired Bloxx, a provider of Secure Web Gateway (SWG) services, in a cash transaction to further improve its cloud security portfolio and provide more security to its customers against various Internet vulnerabilities.
Headquartered in Edinbugh, Scotland, Bloxx is a privately funded Company with 55 employees and focuses on SWG technology. Akamai mentioned that this SWG technology will be very critical for businesses because with the advent of SaaS and other cloud-based applications a lot of transactions happen outside the corporate network and hence security of these transactions with real-time risk assessment is important.
Akamai mentioned that this acquisition is not material to Akamai’s financials and the Company would leverage Bloxx’s solutions for further improving on its new security suite that will be brought to market next year.
