fastly reviewFastly was founded in San Francisco in 2011 by the former CTO of Wikia, Artur Bergman. Fastly developed software enhancements to Varnish (the Open Source HTTP accelerator) and management applications to configure and monitor caching services in real time. Fastly caches use big SSDs, letting caches keep more content for longer, pushing the cache hit rate up to the 99% level, and dropping the time to first byte measurement into the 50 to 900-microsecond range. Some customers use Fastly’s public CDN service and pay for just the caching services they use, without any commitment. Customers with large amounts of traffic can use Fastly’s private managed cache appliances so they have a low incremental cost for additional traffic. All customers get Fastly’s real-time management applications, Instant Purge feature, and the benefits of a better user experience and lower server expense.
