level-3-communications-logoLevel 3 Communications, a leading international provider of networking and communication services and solutions, announced the activation of its new sub-sea Cable Landing Station that connects Colombia to Level 3’s Tier-1 global network and the addition of this cable is in line with Level 3’s South American Crossing (SAC) system and connects the six major economies in Latin America to Level 3’s global network.

The new fiber-optic cable is around 450 km long, 300 km of which is under the sea and connects to Colombia’s Pacific sea-port city Buenaventura, and then runs another 154 km over the land to the city of Cali, thus providing a redundant connection between the main Colombian markets and the rest of the world.
