Verizon Digital Media Systems, a leading provider of networking services and also acquired the leading Content Delivery Network Service provider EdgeCast Networks, announced that the Company would now be supporting Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) as part of its integrated DNS offering.
The DNSSEC adds an additional layer of security over the conventional DNS service and hence protects the customers’ web properties from certain DNS injection attacks like cache poisoning and man-in-middle attacks. Verizon mentioned that the Company had implemented DNSSEC as a secondary DNS solution in its ROUTE offering and will enable customers to use their own DNS zones and infrastructure while leveraging Verizon’s DNS-management solutions as a 3rd Party service.
